Diet To Go Review of their Senior Meals and Prepared Meal Delivery Service
About Diet To Go Prepared Meals
Diet To Go is a very prepared meal delivery service that targets people interested in weight loss, but it also makes a wonderful senior meal delivery solution, and just for the family caretakers, the loved ones too! Yes, it is not without some minor shortcomings, but if you have to get your loved one a breakfast, lunch, and dinner senior meal plan, this one is very economical and comes with a good value.
As of this writing, three meals a day for seven days costs $200 or under $10 per meal. You could also opt for a lunch and dinner meal plan for five days and pay just $120, or $12 per meal. Both plans come with a $10 delivery charge. You may find coupons that give you a 10% to 15% discount lowering your cost even more. Resident of Washing DC, New Jersey, Baltimore, and Los Angeles may choose the option of picking up their food deliveries.
Nutritional Senior Meal Plans
Another benefit of this services is that you don't have to know how to do nutritional meal planning for your loved one. In most cases, any meal plan you buy will support healthy weight loss, diabetic, low carb, or vegetarian diets. In today's world, most seniors and elderly will likely to need to be on of those plans.
- Balance Plan - This plan is ideal for weight loss and healthy eating. There is seafood (yes or no) and vegetarian options. Prepared meals are sodium controlled, and offer reduced fat, cholesterol, and carb meal portions.
- Balance-Diabetes Plan - We use this plan which adheres to the guidelines set by the ADA (American Diabetes Association) for fat intake, and most importantly for diabetics, the number of carbs consumed each meal.
- Keto-Carb30 Plan - This plan offers a weight loss menu of low carb meals based on the Atkins and Keto Diets helping the body produce ketones in the liver to be used as energy. Generally speaking, these diets are higher in fat.
- Vegetarian Meal Plan - It's not Vegan, but it is low calorie, heart-healthy, and nutritionally balanced. A balanced meal includes protein, carbs, and fat that come in the form of entrees, sides, and vegetables. On this plan, the protein comes from dairy products like eggs, beans, and soy.
No matter which meal you choose, you may always customize your order based on your tastes. If you are not sure which plan is best for your loved one, you call Diet To Go or have a free Diet Plan Analysis
emailed to you based some basic parameters.

100% Guarantee
We love when companies offer this! Through the years we have found the companies that offer their customers a 100% Satisfaction Guarantee have better quality products that are enjoyed without issue.
Overall, we found the shipping, packaging, and reheating to be above average.
Our Diet To Go Reviews - Meals We Would Order Again
- Waffles with Peaches and Syrup - Probably the most generous portion of waffles from any meal delivery service, much less a service specializing in weight loss.
- Turkey and Swiss Sandwich with Cauliflower Tabouli - A Tabouli is a Mediterranean vegetarian salad of finely diced vegetables similar to Cole slaw. The Turkey Sandwich was good.
- Salmon with Brown Rice and Vegetables - A very generous portion of everything. The salmon was excellent and reheated perfectly.
- Reuben Sandwich with Mushroom and Artichoke Salad, and a Fruit Cup - Loved they used rye bread, which is the best bread a diabetic can eat for the lowest carbs. The sandwich was good but overpowering with corned beef. The salad and fruit were above par.
- Egg Burrito with Chicken Sausage, Fajita Vegetables, and Orange Segments - Outstanding breakfast! Reheated easily and tasted fresh.
- Quinoa Salad - Plentiful and tasty. We would prefer to see a little vegetables, but it was good.
- Chicken Salad with Provolone Cheese and Jello - A very nice chicken salad, although they call it a burger.
- Chicken and Turkey Stew with a Corn and Lentil Loaf - Very good, Mom likes a little spice and this stew delivered a large portion size of it. The corn and Lentil loaf was not loved as much and didn't get finished.
- Turkey Salisbury Steak with Mashed Potatoes Gravy, and Green Beans - A very good meatloaf, we didn't notice it was turkey instead of beef right away. Sides were spot on.
- Chugwater Chili - Chugwater is home to a huge chili cooking contest in Wyoming. This one would not pass the qualification, much less win, but my Mom loved it and that's all that matters to me.
- Whole Grain Pancakes with Syrup, Turkey Sausage, and Asparagus - One of the best pancake breakfasts we have ever ordered from a meal delivery service.
- Potato Skins with a Wheat and Berry Salad - A Vegetarian lunch that we probably would not order in a restaurant but were happy with it in our meal plan.
- Curried Shrimp with Basmati Rice and Carrots - Outstanding and probably the best meal of the week. The curry was flavorful without being spicy and the shrimp reheated perfectly. The sides were a perfect match.
- Turkey Loin with Carrot Puree, Italian Vegetable Blend, and Asparagus Risotto - This dinner was outstanding and almost beat out the Shrimp Curry as best meal of the week!
- Egg and Broccoli Pie with Applesauce - Very good, the applesauce was store-bought, and the portion size was very small. We had to supplement the meal with a Glucerna shake.
- Whole Grain French Toast with Syrup and Greek Yogurt - Not the best French Toast we've had, but Mom liked it enough to give it a thumbs up.
Meals We Would Not Order Again
- Peach and Pecan Oatmeal Bar with Fruit - This was a very small portion size and a breakfast that didn't excite anyone. We thought the fruit was canned instead of being freshly chopped. It tasted good, so Mom gave it a thumbs up.
- Peach Muffin with Apple Butter and Greek Yogurt - A very small breakfast we felt didn't have much love put into it. Store-bought yogurt with a very small muffin. It tasted good, but breakfast had to be supplemented with some cereal.
- Chicken Parmesan with Pasta and Broccoli - Some wrong happened with dinner, everything we had was "mushy," except for the small portion of broccoli. We thought this had to be a one-time mistake.
- Tomato Pesto Melt-over - While we appreciate the desire to be creative in the kitchen, this meal fell well short of the mark, like wet pizza.
- Turkey Sandwich on a Pretzel Roll with Orange Mango Salad
- It was fair to okay, but definitely not worth the 89 carbs it came with.

Shared Experiences from Other Family Caregivers
"I just wanted to say that sharing your family caretaking experiences in the detailed manner that you do has helped me (and I'm sure millions of others) tremendously. You have helped me eliminate any learning I might have had. My Dad never cooked and barely eats since my Mom passed. Now he looks forward to the prepared meals I send him. It makes me happy I was able to help and make a small difference for my Dad."

"I think this is a very accurate Diet To Go review. I have ordered from the company many times as a weight loss program. I never though of it being a senior meal delivery program for my elderly mother. I don't get the breakfast add-on, just the lunches and dinners for 5 days. I live close enough to fill in the missing gaps of the week and I wouldn't want her eating just delievered meals anyway. You do a great job and it's refreshing to see a family member care so much about their parents the way you do."
