Humana gets their prepared senior meals from a company called ILS (Independent Living Systems)
ILS puts their label on prepared meals created by a company called Tradition Meal Solutions
Not an uncommon practice. MagicKitchen has Traditions meals on their senior menu too.
Many of the meals we received from ILS came with broken seals on the tray.
We found many of our meals had excessive water in the tray, ruining any flavor or texture that may have been there.
We found the quality of the ingredients to be lower than average. Look at the broccoli stems instead of florets.
This is called Ham with White Beans. We felt like a can of beans, with the slimey cloudly liquid that should have rinsed, went right into a tray with some ham sprinkled in. Disgusting.
Chicken and Dumplings. Cheap, soggy, and bland.
Watery Canned Beef Yuck with Broccoli and Califlower Stems.
Spaghetti and Bulk Frozen Meatballs with a Tomato Sauce that is more like an Au Jus . Served with chopped broccoli stems for variety.
This baked chicken meal was edible, but we can't give a thumb's up based on if we throw the meal out or not.
We will give Humana a Thumbs Up for this Salmon meal. It's not nutritionally balanced, nor is it very good, but they did get a piece of salmon in the meal, which probably costs more than the meal itself.
Overall, we thought the quality of the dry goods was better than the meals.
