The reheating instructions can be easily found on the all the packages. The prepared meals for seniors come precooked in individually packaged bags because of their unique cooking method. They can be reheated without having to defrost them ahead of time.
This meals are cooked sous vide, meaning they have been slow cooked for long periods of time, in low-heat water in vacuum sealed bags. This French technique of cooking is known to bring flavors together in an amazing way.
The company sorts their meals by several nutritional profiles including Healthy Gourmet, Heart Healthy, Diabetic Friendly, Vegetarian, Lower Sodium, Gluten Free, Peleo, and Low Carb.

We purchased 13 meals to make our senior meal review. Please keep in mind, we are not professional photographers. We simply reheated and plated these meals, and took a picture with our digital camera. Our goal is to show you exactly what you would be getting if you placed your own senior meal delivery order.
Meals We Would Order Again
Romano Pork Medallions - $16
Thick slices of pork tenderloin that comes with a delicious Romano Cheese Sauce on the side. The Za'atar Fries should be available by the case, they are that good.
Chianti Braised Short Ribs - $24
If you are a fan of beef ribs, like we are, you will love this. We have recently noticed a lot of meal delivery services are passing off pot roast as braised short ribs. Not Home Bistro.
You will enjoy a generous portion of tender and fatty beef short rib deliciousness in its full glory.
Artichoke Lemon Steak - $24
Not to be outdone, this hanger steak is perfectly prepared. It has a nice crust on the outside and still rare to slightly under on the inside, which give you the option to reheat the steak to any desired wellness you prefer. Brilliant!
Mediterranean Shrimp - $22
Although excellent, this meal is not as easy to prepare as most others. Not that it is hard, it just not a pop in the microwave type meal. But invest a few minutes in preparation and your taste buds will be rewarded. The Risotto might be the best available from a home delivery service.
Peri Peri Cod - $23
We get bored ordering fresh fish meals meals because they are generally good, but the portion size of the fish is so small it barely qualifies as a meal. Maybe their accountants missed this one, but look at the size of the Cod portion you get with this meal.
With most meal delivery services are lucky to get half of that. Sous-vide is probably the best way to cook fish, and it really comes together with this meal.
Orzo Pecorino Romano Superbowl - $11
Orzo, Romano Cream Sauce (Yes, real cream) and Mushrooms. This is nothing short of creamy, gooey goodness. Order more than you think you should because it makes a great midnight snack too.
We could eat this all day, every day.
Udon Red Miso Superbowl - $11
We hope you recognize our "official" Udon soup bowl because we make our own at least once or twice a week when the weather gets colder. So, that must make us experts!
This is not a dish you are going to find on a lot of meal delivery menus, and it is pretty darn good. The Udon could be longer, but the broth is good. And it would be ready about 30 minutes before you could make your own.
Grilled Chicken with Sweet and Spicy Veggies - $18
We love the use of real chicken breasts while so many other services are starting to use smaller-sized processed chicken. The definition of "gourmet" includes using high-quality ingredients. It is refreshing to see a meal delivery service stick to their gourmet quality roots. And this meal makes for an excellent healthy lunch or dinner.
Charbroiled Peri Peri Chicken - $18
Another take on same delicious chicken breast, this time serviced with Cauliflower Gratin and Roasted Brussels Sprouts.
Chicken and Fruit Kabob - $18
This one sounded a little "outside the box" to us, but it turned out the surprise meal of the day. The chicken is very tender and pairs well with the sauce. Basically, since Home Bistro was founded, any sauce is going to be perfectly prepared with amazing flavor and compliment the dish perfectly.
Lemon-Caper Piccata Steak with Gratin - $23
A very generous portion of perfectly cooked Hanger Steak with Lemon-Caper Piccata Sauce, perfectly paired with Garlic Marble Potatoes and Cauliflower Gratin.
Meals We Probably Would Not Order Again
There is really nothing "bad" about these meals. This is based on our tastes and what we think is a great value. If there were meals we thought you shouldn't order, we would tell you.
Vegetable Chili with Cornbread - $11
This dish just might be cursed for home delivery. Every time we order it, we find it to be more like a soup and a chili. The flavors are good with this one, but it just doesn't quite reach the standard of calling it a chili. The Cornbread was outstanding!
Mushroom Bolognese Pappardelle - $11

Our Senior Meals Summary
Like their sister company
DineWise, we found the portion sizes to be well above average. And again, the cost of the meals was about $10, especially if you join their email program and take advantage of unadvertised specials.
We are sure we don't have to tell you these meals are good. We think the pictures speak for themselves. Chances are, any senior would love to have any one of these meals served to them in a restaurant. We sincerely believe Home Bistro senior prepared meals is a solution for seniors, the elderly, and family caretakers who have to consider private-pay as an option for feeding a loved one.

purchased them many years ago. We still enjoy the food, but the today's menu does not have any of the old recipes and is very small, compared to what it used be. We prefer our food coming in bags over trays because trays are known to crack during shipping. We had to discard this order of Udon Noodles because the trays that were laying on the dry ice all cracked. It happened to our Bolognese too."
